Boston & Lowell Railroad Station (first) opens.
June 24, 1835
Also known as the Old Lowell Station, the wooden building is located on Lowell Street (Leverett Street and Brighton street-Heald). It is also subsequently used by the Boston & Maine Railroad. The building is replaced by a larger station (second) on Causeway Street in 1857,* and then another (third) in 1873.* The Boston & Lowell merges with the Boston & Maine in 1887, and operates from North Union Station beginning in 1894,* and then North Station in 1927.*
